Jazz On The Farm
- the best jazz festival that never happened!
The bad news is - Jazz on the Farm can't happen again.
Unfortunately our lovely venue, Bodafon Farm Park, will never again be able to offer us the kind of deal we had for Jazz On The Farm and Llandudno Jazz Festival which was hosted by the venue for 4 years. In the next couple of years the proprietor will be leaving the property and the venue will fall under new management. His plan is to achieve as much income as possible in the interim time which means weddings, 50th birthday parties, company parties etc, rather than hosting a three-day event where no one really drinks more than a pint and a half, and everyone bring their own sandwiches!! We are so grateful to Bodafon Farm Park for making the festival possible from 2016 to 2019 by offering us the whole venue for the whole weekend FREE OF CHARGE. All we had to cover were the infrastructure, artist costs, legalities and publicity which was covered by ticket sales, local business and council sponsorship, and the incredible generosity of festival co-founder, the late, great Ed Burke. Ed was the festival underwriter who at one point sold his house to cover the costs of keeping the festival alive!
Apologies to everyone who was hoping we could start up again post Covid shambles, but finding another suitable and affordable venue in the area has proven impossible. Thanks to everyone who supported the festival over the years including the festival committee, patrons, sponsors, volunteers and staff, and, of course, the amazing musicians.
I continue to promote jazz in North Wales as does my former business partner in LJF, Geoff Burke.
